Why You Should Eliminate Meat

I for one do not profess to be vegan aka plant-based connoisseur, but my gravitation to plant-based living was sparked by my desire to live a healthy lifestyle. This inherently led to the elimination of meat. Knowledge is power. Once I learned that the foods we eat can serve as our medicine or the source of our disease, I sought to change the way that I viewed food. I soon realized that the proverb “Let food be thy medicine,” was more than a cliche. Here are the 3 reasons why you should eliminate meat from your diet.

1. Eating Meat is linked to Health Conditions

The fact is, everything that we eat is digested into a molecular substance that is either utilized to energize our cells to enhance our health, or release toxins that accumulate over time to cause chronic health issues like high blood pressure and high cholesterol. These health conditions are linked to eating animal products over an extended period of time.

2. Meat is infused with toxic chemicals

As soon as an animal is killed for its meat, the decay process immediately ensues. The meat is quickly processed and infused with chemicals that greatly reduce the rotting process to give the meat a fresh lean appearance so that it can be sold. Buyer beware, the eye can fool you. Although the meat that you buy may appear as if was freshly prepared, you can not trust it looks, feels the texture, and smell.

3. Meat preservatives can mask why lies beneath the surface

Chemical additives and preservatives are so technologically advanced that it can mask what’s going on at the cellular level. Once the meat is washed, seasoned, and cooked to perfection, there are little to no  signs to expose what lies beneath.

Once it is digested, the stomach excretes highly acidic stomach acids to break it down into usable energy. Unfortunately, the by-product aka meat break-down substance does not yield an energized substance in which to fuel the body. Instead, it produces a viscous plaque-like substance aka cholesterol (meat by-product) that accumulates within the arteries over time to produce high cholesterol. In time this accumulated plaque and cholesterol narrows the blood vessels and can cause high blood pressure. This occurs as the body attempts to compensate for the dysfunction by increasing the rate in which the blood is flowing in order to get past the blockage.

The resultant chronic health condition is high blood pressure aka hypertension. This phenomenon can have detrimental consequences as this vessel blockage in the heart can result in a heart attack if the vessel becomes completely blocked. This blockage greatly reduces the flow of blood to the heart which is incredibly essential to supplying blood to the entire body.

Eating meat is a conscious decision. However, we as consumers need to seek to learn all that we can about what’s actually in our food. All too often, we blindly accept what we’re taught regarding the health our food. We need to look beyond the health claims on the label, and do our due diligence, before we continue our current lifestyle. Just because we were raised a certain way, doesnt mean we are bound. It may not always be easy but each day presents a new way to make a change, one peice of food at a time.
